First, let's start with the definitions of the superhero lineup (Avengers of Marchitecture!?) and list the particular primary skill of each. Of course, each hero also enjoys individual scalability in the cloud.

  • Experience Manager: Delivering experiences on the web.
  • Content Hub: Centrally managing assets and textual content.
  • OrderCloud: Providing self-service via cart, merchandising, and orders.
  • Moosend: Delivering communications people want, where they want.
  • CDP: Collecting engagement from all channels to provide personalized and tested recommendations.

Now the superheroes need a problem to solve. To illustrate, we will list a common scenario for a fictitious brand in the travel & leisure space. Does this situation sound familiar to you?

  • External market factors have taken their toll, revenue is down, but the market is rebounding.
  • The business landscape is fragmented across the board: content, branding, systems, and people.
  • Increased revenue and cost reduction results must be delivered within a year.

As you can see, this scenario has three key themes: business distress, a steep challenge, and limited time. To address the time issue, the superheroes arrange a roadmap of "mini-MVP" efforts to make relevant progress to the public.

The roadmap accomplishes the following quick wins:

  • Launch a vibrant new site that attracts attention and unifies all locations.
  • Enable self-service ticketing to increase digital engagement and begin capturing a base of high-quality profiles.
  • Improve operations by getting content out of the channel and into centralized tooling.
  • Increase engagement by capturing explicit preference and enforcing personalized automation.
  • Expand to new self-service offerings and innovate the buying experience in advance of the next busy season.

Benefits of composable DXP on agilitycms.com

Removal of Content Silos: With a composable DXP, you can remove content silos that plague many organizations. Instead, you can take advantage of pre-built workflows that help streamline content production and make collaboration easier across departments.

Faster Time to Market: A composable DXP increases your agility, enabling your organization to realize a faster time to market when adopting new tools and technologies and releasing marketing campaigns. With platforms like Sitecore, on the other hand, extensive training or vendor-specific expertise is required, which can slow you down.

Flexible Experiences: Creating engaging customer experiences across multiple channels is much easier with a composable DXP. Organizations can deliver content to any digital touchpoint and integrate analytics, personalization and CRM tools to provide data that enhances the experience even further.

Experience Manager Cloud

Sitecore Experience Manager Cloud is the no-compromise CMS with native headless REST and graphQL interfaces for content management and delivery. It will have open APIs designed for builders and be a cloud-native, infinitely scalable CMS. Best of all, it will be the last Sitecore CMS upgrade you’ll ever do.

The new CMS will be headless, Jamstack ready, support Jamstack deployments and works with all modern frontend frameworks and CDN. It includes a product called Sitecore Symphony, Sitecore’s new next-generation visual builder that they’re calling Frontend as a Service.

  • Sitecore CDP (powered by Boxever)
  • Sitecore Personalize (powered by Boxever)
  • Sitecore search (powered by Reflektion)
  • Sitecore Send (powered by MooSend)
  • Experience Manager (new cloud-native CMS)
  • Sitecore Symphony (new product - next-gen visual builder they're also calling frontend as a service. Deployed using Next JS and their partner Vercel)
  • Content hub (Sitecore's content hub - completely integrated DAM)

The 3 Pillars: Content, Experience, Commerce

Content

Content Hub and the CMS

The Content Hub portion consists of the Content Hub DAM, the same market-leading digital asset product we know today that provides brands with advanced control and security, as well as Content Hub content operations, which transforms how marketers define and execute their content marketing strategy. It uses collaboration and workflow to focus on high-value tasks like strategy and creative execution.

Speed and relevancy

One of the downfalls of Sitecore's personalization capabilities has been the ability to use personalization with something like a CDN. Usually, Sitecore users have to choose between personalization or performance, so I was super excited about this one.

Without revealing too many details, the DXP can balance speed with relevancy and dial each of them up depending on how we want to tailor the solution to our customers. So while thus far marketers have had to choose between speed or relevancy, that will be a thing of the past with the new DXP, and we'll no longer need to trade them off. Exciting stuff!

Developer Productivity & Agility

Like the tradeoff between performance and relevancy, we've faced another tradeoff in the past: Agility and flexibility. Usually, headless CMS add scale and flexibility but mainly at the marketer's expense. Sitecore believes headless CMS should be combined with a best-in-breed visual editor to give everyone the best of both worlds.

Experience

The experience pillar has three core capabilities:

  • Customer data management
  • Personalization
  • Testing and marketing automation

While Sitecore's always had a strength in these areas, Sitecore needed a more modern approach as the cloud became the new standard and APIs where microservices are expected.

Sitecore wanted to not only evolve the architecture but excel in the innovation as part of a genuinely cloud-native multi-tenant headless platform.

To do this, Sitecore acquired two products:

  • Moosend (now Sitecore Send)
  • Boxever (Sitecore CDP & Sitecore Personalize)

Sitecore Send

Sitecore Send is a compelling marketing automation platform that balances simplicity with the power of data and AI, delivering a genuinely omnichannel automation platform. It will be the messaging engine in the new composable platform.

Sitecore CDP

Sitecore acquired Boxever to become the central nervous system of the new composable DXP. The core customer data capabilities of Boxever are now called Sitecore CDP. It infuses every product with real-time analytics, customer insights and personalization.

You can aggregate customer data from multiple disparate data sources and build a golden profile of your customer, either anonymous or fully known, and can use the data to create segments or groups and efficiently distribute those to other parts of your stack, whether that's a Sitecore product or another vendor.

Sitecore says the CDP is the most privacy-centric and secure way to get better insights on your customers ethically and transparently.

Sitecore Personalize

Sitecore Personalize offers real-time personalization and experimentation capabilities. It's also based on Boxever's capabilities and can be integrated with just a simple tag on the site. Sitecore Personalize also provides more sophisticated capabilities to personalize server to server via APIs or at the edge giving unrivaled flexibility and deployment options if needed.

Sitecore Personalize is not for XM Cloud users only. Today, Sitecore users with XM or XP installed can use the solution quickly, integrate it into their current installation, and start their cloud journey with Sitecore. It's so easy to use that personalization can be implemented in minutes in the client or at the Edge, and you can add more capabilities as you become more sophisticated.

Commerce

The third pillar, commerce, has two core capabilities:

B2X commerce Product discovery

Since a lot of Sitecore users need B2B or marketplace solutions that stretch beyond just a simple B2C market of one catalog and one price, Sitecore has acquired two commerce tools that expand Sitecore's capabilities beyond core XC in a cloud-native way:

  • OrderCloud
  • Reflektion

OrderCloud

OrderCloud is an API first, a headless platform that allows users to bring commerce into channels or branded experiences that don't typically fit the traditional mold of an online storefront. OrderCloud is the perfect fit for those moving beyond a single website and starting to think about creating a commerce ecosystem for their business with APIs.

Sitecore Discover

Powered by Reflektion, Sitecore Discover offers strong product catalog management, visual merchandising capabilities, and AI expertise.

Sitecore Search

Sitecore Search builds on the enterprise search and AI capabilities Reflektion has today but delivers cool things like instant preview search. It allows users to index structured data directly from XM and Content Hub or can scrape the rendered pages for quick deployment.

The Interface

The interface looks intuitive and much more visual than the current Sitecore launchpad and content editor. Sites are displayed by recency, and it offers marketers the power to create a game-changing experience in a visual composer that takes learnings from Horizon.

Publishing a Site

Analytics: Analytics is powered by Boxever and will be included in every XM Cloud installation, allowing marketers to see simple analytics at the site and page level to understand how their digital experiences are performing. All marketers need to install a simple tag to gather the data.

New Developer Portal: Sitecore's developer experience has been lacking recently, so Sitecore has been trying to do more for the developer and has built a new developer portal.

Sitecore Health Cloud: Another announcement was Sitecore Health Cloud - a specialized offering of Sitecore XM deployed in MS Azure that caters to the intricacies of the US health market. The technology, built to empower healthcare providers to offer engaging and personalized patient experiences in a secure and compliant manner, will be HIPAA-ready and available in Spring 22, along with HIPAA-ready Content Hub.
